Wild Bird Club Officers launch the Philippine Bird Festival in Dumaguete
A launch of the upcoming 7th Philippine Bird Festival was held last August 1-3 at the Center Lobby of Robinsons Place Dumaguete. The WBCP officers President Anna Gonzales, Vice President Alain Pascua, Secretary Gina Mapua and Treasurer Mike Lu as well as former club treasurer Melanie Tan attended the launch. Gracing the event were Negros Oriental Governor Hon. Roel Degamo, Dumaguete City Mayor Hon. Manuel Sagabarria and Silliman University Acting President and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Betsy Joy Tan. Former DENR Secretary Angel Alcala also attended the launch and went around the exhibits.
The club, in partnership with Silliman University, put up the exhibit to generate more interest in the upcoming 7th Philippine Bird Festival to be held in the Silliman University grounds this coming September. The exhibit showcased photographs of birds that can be found in Negros taken by our fellow WBCP members as well as some bird skins from the collection of Silliman University Rodolfo B. Gonzales Musuem of Natural History. After the three-day mall display, the exhibit will be moved into different venues inside the Silliman University campus. Students from Silliman University as well as from other schools were invited to browse through the exhibit and a press conference was also held.
