This is the travel issue. Members of the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines write about migrating birds, birdwatching abroad, birdwatching in both nearby and far-flung parts of the Philippines, and birding as part of the WBCP’s first Big Year contest.

Juan Mesquida writes about a charming, pleasant and birdy site near Metro Manila that’s good for seeing forest birds.

  1. when do you have guided tours in La Mesa Eco park, UP Diliman campus, ADMU, Arroceros?
I would be interested to join, but what do I bring? thanks. keep up the good work!

    • Hi Ophelia, yes the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines conducts guided tours, usually in UP Diliman. Please send an email to Mike Lu at myckle224@yahoo.com and ask to be included in the mailing list for trip announcements. You just need binoculars. If you don’t have your own, you can rent from the club for P50. Also good to bring a pen and notebook so you can write down the names of the birds you see.
If you have a group or a club, you can also arrange for a guided trip for your club. It can be a really fun club activity. Recently the club guided the Nikon Club of the Philippines in La Mesa Ecopark.
Hope you are able to go birdwatching with us soon!
